Job Responsibilities: JOB DESCRIPTION: To select and monitor supply sources (vendors) for purchased steel, tooling, capital and outside direct material services while maintaining both quality and delivery standards while controlling costs. The Buyer will be responsible for proper handling, storage, packaging, preservation and delivery of material, tooling, capital equipment and product per control plans utilizing TS16949 & ISO14001. RESPONSABILITIES Identify and evaluate supply sources for purchased steel, tooling, capital & outside direct material services. Negotiate pricing of items to minimize cost while assuring quality and on-time delivery Ensure Bailee agreements, Capital, Tooling and Service addendums are attached and signed before POs are issued to vendors. Prepare contracts and issue Purchase Orders to vendors using Manufacturing Systems. Monitor cost, quality, and delivery performance of suppliers Work with Supplier Performance development specialist to Initiate vendor corrective actions. Support and provide products for new program launches. Populate CPMP and keep up to date. Participate in regular physical inventory Housekeeping and other activities as assigned Who we are looking for 3 - 5 years of experience in Manufacturing, preferably automotive; purchasing; inventory control Experience as Metal Procurement Specialist / Metal Buyer – sourcing and purchasing raw or processed metals like steel, aluminum. Knowledge of negotiation techniques CMS software preferred for ERP, Spreadsheet and word processing software Accounting experience preferred SKILLS/ABILITIES Excellent verbal and written communication skills required Ability to work cross-functionally with various departments to ensure smooth cooperation. Ability to manage multiple priorities for various customers (internal & external) Ability to listen and communicate effectively with associates in either individual or group settings Excellent organizational ability Ability to negotiate with suppliers to reduce costs Ability to work overtime hours as required. Ability to read, write, and speak English EDUCATION/TECHNICAL EDUCATION College degree in Metallurgy or related field preferred but not required.
