SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION :
The Employee Health, Safety & Wellness Specialist is responsible for managing and administering employee benefits programs, with a strong focus on health, safety and wellness. In addition to managing benefits programs, the specialist will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety and wellness regulations. This includes contributing to the development of health and safety initiatives, conducting risk assessments, and fostering a workplace culture that aligns with safety guidelines. Facilitating access to mental health resources, ensuring employees are fully informed and supported in utilizing these benefits to maintain their well-being.
The specialist will work closely with district leadership, employees, and external partners to promote a culture of health and well-being while ensuring employees have the resources to navigate and maximize available benefits.
The specialist will provide support to the Human Resources department in all aspects to ensure smooth daily operations while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and service. The specialist will provide a positive experience, thorough communication, and lasting relationships with staff and the public.

JOB ELEMENTS :
The Employee Health, Safety and Wellness Specialist is responsible for overseeing all aspects of employee health, safety and wellness programs to create a supportive and compliant work environment.
- Safety Program Management : Oversee all aspects of district safety and Workers' Compensation programs, including but not limited to :
- Timely processing of workers' compensation claims
- Evaluation of accident reports to determine accuracy, completeness, adequate investigation, patterns of injury
- Ensure District is in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Ensure employees are informed about safety protocols, emergency procedures, and safety and wellness resources.
- Conduct or facilitate applicable training
- Conduct safety inspections and audits
- Constant communication and support with injured employee
- Wellness Program Management : Oversee all aspects of district employee wellness program, to include, but not limited to :
- Organize and implement comprehensive programs and activities to support employee mental and physical health
- Assist with preparation and implementation of wellness budget, policies, and procedures
- Draft and maintain accurate, confidential records and reports as required to track and assess employee participation, program incentives, costs, and benefits to the district
- Serve as permanent chair of the Safety and Wellness committee
- Communicate with the committee on a quarterly basis

- Ensuring membership
- Benefit Program Management : Co-coordinate all aspects of employee benefits to include, but not limited to :
- Medical, dental, vision, prescription insurance
- Short-term and long-term disability insurance
- Flexible spending account plans
- Employee assistance program (EAP)
- All district leave (paid leave, vacation), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and extended medical leaves
- Serve as permanent member of the Employee Benefits Trust (EBT) committee
