The Inspector Assistant supports the Fire Alarm Inspector in conducting inspections and testing of fire protection systems, identifying fire code violations, and ensuring quality service delivery. This role also involves building strong relationships with customers, co-workers, and suppliers while adhering to company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assist in inspecting fire protection and detection systems to ensure compliance with laws, codes, and regulations.
- Respond to service calls and assist with troubleshooting, minor repairs, and maintenance tasks.
- Support the installation of new fire life safety systems and wiring.
- Use standard testing equipment to analyze circuits, adjust components, and ensure proper functioning.
- Maintain excellent customer and team relationships by fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Keep the Fire Alarm Inspector updated on progress, challenges, and solutions.
- Success in this role is measured by: Accuracy and compliance of inspections and testing, quality and timeliness of work, effective communication, teamwork, leadership, dependability, initiative, and adaptability in handling responsibilities.
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred: Post-secondary education or certifications, such as:
- OSHA 10 Certification
- NICET Level 1 Certification
- Required: 12 years of relevant construction-related experience.
- Preferred: Experience assisting in fire alarm inspections or similar work.
- Basic knowledge of AC/DC circuitry and low-voltage systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
- Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 70 lbs.
- Able to work at heights and operate ladders up to 12 feet.
- Ability to use power jacks, forklifts, and other equipment as needed.
- Must tolerate outdoor weather conditions and construction site environments.
- Work on active construction sites under variable conditions.
- Travel and overtime may be required based on customer demand.
