Job Description:
The Infection Preventionist is responsible for an active program for preventing, identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infections and communicable diseases by utilizing and adhering to nationally recognized standards of practice. The Infection Preventionist is responsible for ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies related to infection prevention and control practices across healthcare. The Infection Preventionist collaborates with the long-term healthcare team and community agencies to address infectious disease concerns and other relevant topics. Salary based on credentials and experience.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to collect and analyze data to identify trends or areas of concern.
- Ability to create, decipher, and apply data definitions accurately for consistent and reliable reporting of infection prevention data.
- Must have the ability to demonstrate self-confidence and positive attitude toward self and others.
- Ability to learn and navigate computer systems; including electronic health records, Microsoft office applications, and online reporting systems.
- Ability to create and present data visualizations effectively.
- Maintains commitment and enthusiasm to goal achievement.
- Excellent collaborator and communication skills required.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing, public health, microbiology, epidemiology, or related health field required.
- BLS certification required.
- Must obtain CIC within 2 years of hire if not currently certified.
- Experience or education in Infection Prevention and Control preferred.
