Position Title: Incoming Material Handler
Position summary:
The material handler is responsible for receiving and verifying inbound shipments related to railcar parts, materials, tools, and equipment and will store them properly in their designated inventory area.
Tasks:
· Reviews inbound shipments to ensure the materials match between the purchase order and the packing slip and toverify purchase order requirements have been met.
· Delivers goods and materials to the appropriate department and designated inventory area.
· Operates forklift to deliver inbound materials efficiently, effectively, and safely to the proper work center / storage area.
· Monitors inventory levels as systems allows and organizes inventory properly within designated work center / storageareas.
· Quantifies any inventory / inbound shipment problems and provides plant management with the key information toresolve any issues with vendors.
· Establishes clear communication within and between work centers to manage inventory and fulfill customer needs.
· Maintains accurate records of inbound material / inventory systems.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Forklifts. Standard office equipment. Computer, MS office (Word, Excel).
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Certifications
· High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
Experience
· 1-3 years of experience with material handling, inventory control or related field.
· Experience operating a forklift preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures for material handling and inventory control.
· Ability to operate a forklift and crane equipment to deliver materials.
· Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions.
· Ability to inspect, perform, and complete work assignments at a high quality, meeting set standards.
· Ability to communicate ideas / information in writing and through speech so that others will understand.
· Ability to understand and follow all safety rules, wear PPE required for job, and focus on preventing safety incidents.
· Strong computer skills (MS-Office, Internet) preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT / CONDITIONS:
Candidate must be able to perform the following physical tasks:
· Working around heavy moving equipment
· Work in high places and confined areas.
· Climb, squat, bend, twist, and regularly lift up to 50 pounds or more to accomplish work tasks.
· Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour
