Welding Administrator

POSITION SUMMARY

The Welding Administrator will oversee welding operations and be responsible for coaching, resolving issues and serving as a link between welders and management. This candidate will be an individual who will be able to guide and train employees, be well-versed in welding processes, tank repair, company processes, results-driven and focused. The goal is to ensure that welding operations are carried out productively to ensure profitability and sustainable growth.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• The Repair Supervisor and Welding Administrator will work together to organize the training and certification of Welders. Once organized the Weld Test Administrator will ensure that employees understand the requirements and expectations of being a Certified Welder.
• Monitor welding operations and provide constructive feedback and coaching.
• Calibrate welding machines and wire feeders.
• Receive complaints and resolve problems.
• Pass on information from upper management to Welders and vice versa.
• Help train new employees in welding processes and assist them in obtaining certification and maintaining continuity.
• Maintain Welder continuity to maintain their certifications.
• Ensure accurate record keeping in the training server for certificate traceability and Welder continuity.
• Ensure adherence to legal and company policies and procedures and relay violations to Manager as needed.

SKILLS

• Proven experience as supervisor or relevant role
• Familiarity with company policies and legal guidelines of the field
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to understand and learn multiple job descriptions
• Outstanding organizational and leadership skills
• Certified in GMAW, SMAW, CAC-A, OFC, PAC
• Familiar with tank repair requirements for shells, heads, nozzles and sumps
• Familiar with Eagle Welding Procedures and industry requirements
• Familiar AWS and AAR welding specifications

WORK ENVIRONMENT / CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Able to stand for long periods of time with limited breaks.
• Must be able to repetitively lift up-to 75 pounds and team lift up-to 150 pounds.
• Work in extreme temperatures and elements for an extended period.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces.
• Working around heavy moving equipment
• Must be able to work at elevated heights.
• Climb, squat, bend, and twist to accomplish work tasks.
• Requires the use of a tight-fitting respirator; You must be appropriately clean-shaven per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134, at all times.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

• High School Diploma, GED, or High School Equivalence Certificate.
• At least 1-3 years of Railcar Repair and welding Experience.
• Must exhibit leadership and decision-making skills.
