GO Transportation Fuel Dispatcher: This is classified as an hourly position
Summary/Objective
The Fuel Dispatcher will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring driver start times, delivery routes, and progress to ensure delivery commitments are maintained. This will be completed by, but not limited to, the functions listed below.
Essential Job Functions
- Schedule and dispatch fuel and tankers to appropriate locations, according to customers’ requests, specifications, or needs, using telephones.
- Make decisions on the best route and timing to deliver fuel within established DOT rules regarding commercial drivers.
- Monitor personnel and/or equipment locations and utilization to coordinate service and schedules.
- Confer with customers or supervising personnel to address questions, problems, or requests for fuel.
- Record and maintain files or records of customer requests, work or services performed, charges, expenses, inventory, or other dispatch information.
- Prepare daily work and run schedules.
- Determine types or amounts of fuel and transport required, according to work orders or specifications.
- Use phone, computer, or a combination of these items to transmit assignments.
- Compile statistics and reports on work progress.
- Other duties as needed or assigned to ensure efficient delivery and operations.
Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge of DOT requirements for transportation and hazardous material transportation
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including customer’s need assessment and meeting quality standards for services.
- Knowledge of Missouri geographical locations to effectively plan routes
- Excellent computer skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- The ability to make decisions quickly under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Good relationship building skills
- The ability to multi-task and stay organized
- Active listening and critical thinking skills
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 years of dispatching experience required
- 1 year of petroleum dispatching experience preferred
Must be available to work a rotation of weekends and holidays, every other weekend or 3rd weekend.
