Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and customer-oriented IT Technician Level 1 to join our IT support team at EagleTree Technologies. The IT Technician will be the first point of contact for technical support, helping students, staff, and faculty with a variety of IT-related issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of basic computer hardware, software, and network troubleshooting, and will provide efficient support to maintain a smooth and effective technology environment for the school community. You’ll be given all the support and training you need to feel confident in your role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Support: Provide first-line support for staff and students, troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues in person, via phone, or email.
- Hardware and Software Setup: Assist with the installation and setup of computers, printers, tablets, and other technology equipment. Ensure all devices are properly configured for use.
- User Support and Training: Assist users with basic technology issues, including operating system, software, and application problems. Offer basic training for staff and students on using school systems and devices.
- Network and Connectivity Troubleshooting: Assist with network connectivity issues, including wired and wireless connections. Perform basic diagnostic tests and resolve minor network-related problems.
- Maintenance and Upkeep: Perform routine maintenance tasks on hardware and software, such as system updates, security patches, and virus scans. Ensure devices are running smoothly and securely.
- Inventory Management: Track and manage IT inventory, ensuring equipment is properly labeled, stored, and maintained. Assist with equipment check-outs and returns.
- Documentation: Document all support tickets, issues, and resolutions in the IT service management system. Maintain logs for hardware and software issues and actions taken.
- Escalation Support: When necessary, escalate complex issues to higher-level IT support staff or external vendors for resolution.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the IT team to ensure consistent and efficient technology support across the school.
- Assist with Technology Projects: Provide support for technology upgrades, system implementations, and other IT projects as required.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma required; Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Experience in IT support, particularly in a school or educational setting, is a plus, but not required.
- Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with operating systems (Windows and ChromeOS).
- Basic knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and other educational software.
- Ability to troubleshoot common hardware and software issues (printers, computers, etc.).
- Understanding of common device setups (computers, projectors, tablets, etc.).
- Soft Skills:
- Strong communication skills to assist and explain solutions to non-technical users.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and provide excellent customer service.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Friendly and approachable with the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Excellent time-management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic certifications, such as CompTIA IT Fundamentals (ITF ) or similar, are beneficial but not required.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail) or other school-specific software tools is a plus.
Working Conditions:
- This role may require occasional evening or weekend work to support school events or perform system maintenance during non-school hours.
- The position may involve physical tasks, such as lifting and moving technology equipment.
