What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Swim Team Coach position at EagleVail Metropolitan District?
General Responsibilities: The primary role of the Head Swim Coach is to provide a safe and supportive community where swimmers of all abilities are given the opportunity to achieve their highest physical, emotional, and social potential. To develop appropriate means necessary to offer quality swim coaching while remaining up to date on current trends. Design, organize, plan, and implement a workout curriculum for all levels of the swim team. Coach with encouragement and positive reinforcement and assist participants and parents/ guardians in recognizing and understanding swimming developments and achievements.
Benefits/Compensation: $22.00-$25.00/hour DOE. EagleVail Metro District also allows employees free access to all District facilities.
Physical Requirements:
Adequate physical agility to perform the physical tasks required to teach a swim lesson including visual and hearing acuity.
Ability to focus attention on students in pool area without distraction.
Physical agility is required to perform all the activities of the swim instructor job, including the ability to swim confidently.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing and read instructions and pass on all relevant information to parent/ guardian.
Physical Demands:
The instructor must be able to support people of all sizes in the water.
The instructor regularly works under outdoor weather conditions.
Other Requirements:
Previous experience participating in and/or coaching swim team is required.
Wear appropriate uniform (Team Shirt provided)
Must attend all swim meets, lead a pre-season meeting the coaches meeting before each practice.
Organize home swim meet, ice cream socials, end of season banquet.
Manage team emails, parent/coach communications, and attendance logs.
Create a coaching schedule.
Responsible for team equipment.
Coordinate with pool manager to order team shirts, caps, and suits.
Be aware of the budget with aid of pool management.
Efficient knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office required and Hy-tek Meet Manager software preferred.
Resourceful in ability to operate new computer software.
Ability to work cooperatively as a team leader/member.
Communicate with coaches on an on-going basis with regards to swim team vision, students’ skill levels, and competition.
Identify strengths and weaknesses of students to help facilitate effective drills and games.
Show adaptability to giving and receiving feedback.
- Improve and refine own and other coaches coaching skills related to the various age groups and skill levels of the swim team.
Implementing ground rules to prevent accidents and injuries.
Passionate, enthusiastic and a willingness to grow.
Work Hours and Days: The Head Swim Coach hours are part-time. The hours will range based on needs of the program.
Salary : $22 - $25
