Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10 coding systems.
- Process medical billing claims in accordance with established guidelines and protocols.
- Review patient records to ensure all necessary information is included for billing purposes.
- Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in medical records or coding.
- Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid claims and conducting medical collections as needed.
- Maintain organized medical records and documentation to support billing processes.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding standards to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with other departments within the medical office to streamline billing operations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing and coding, preferably within a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency in using medical billing systems and electronic health record (EHR) software.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Familiarity with ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems is essential.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, providers, and insurance companies.
- Certification in Medical Billing or Coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) is preferred but not required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.50 - $23.00 per hour
