Work being preformed will be on Centerpoint property in Southwestern Indiana

Job Summary:
The Beginning Underground Lineman is responsible for assisting in the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground electrical distribution systems. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals looking to build a career in the utility sector, providing hands-on experience in a dynamic work environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and a willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground electrical lines and related equipment.
- Help with the excavation and preparation of work sites for underground installations.
- Support experienced linemen in troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical issues.
- Operate and maintain various tools and equipment, including trenchers, excavators, bucket trucks, digger/derrick
truck and hand tools
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment for all team members.
- Participate in job site meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and materials are properly stored.
- Assist in the installation of underground conduits, transformers, wire, vaults, switchgears, streetlights, and other
electrical components.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Document work performed and assist in reporting job progress to supervisors and utility company.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and graduating from NALTC is a plus.
- A foundational systems and principles acquired at NALTC is beneficial
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. 100% is outdoor work.
- Willingness to work in confined spaces and at elevated heights when required.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to follow directions and work independently when required.
- A valid driver’s license is required, and a CDL is preferred for traveling to and from job sites.
- Commitment to safety and compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 75 lbs) and perform physical tasks such as pulling wire, digging, and climbing.
- Must be able to stand, bend, and work in various positions for extended periods.
