What are the responsibilities and job description for the Floater position at Early Childhood Center?
Job Summary:
The floater has daily assigned tasks and will be available to offer classroom coverage with any age group as needed. The floater will provide coverage for staff breaks and absences in the classroom or kitchen.
Responsibilities:
Classroom:
- Provide coverage for staff breaks and planning periods.
- Provide coverage for scheduled and unscheduled teacher absences. This can be a full day or a partial day.
- Greet children upon arriving in each classroom.
- Assist classroom teachers with scheduled activities and interact with the children while in each classroom.
- Abide by all teacher guidelines while in the classroom. (Ex. No cell phones, handwashing…)
Kitchen (as needed):
- Delivering snacks, milk, and paper supplies.
- Prepare fruits and vegetables for special lunch days.
- Collect, wash, and sanitize all classroom dishes after each snack and lunch.
- Return the assigned plates, cups, and utensils to each classroom before the next usage.
- Keep the kitchen clean and organized in working order at all times.
Laundry (as needed):
- Load laundry into the washing machine and dryer to make sure all laundry scheduled is completed.
- Return clean laundry to the appropriate classroom.
Other Duties:
- Attend staff meetings monthly.
- The above list is not inclusive of all duties assigned. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Serve as backup to make and fill classroom bottles with bleach solutions and return them to their assigned classroom.
This job does require the ability to lift, bend, sit on the floor and stand for extended periods of time. Staff must be in good physical condition and able to perform the above duties.
