What are the responsibilities and job description for the Extended School Year- Special Education Teacher SOAR Program position at Early Childhood?
The Sharon Public Schools is seeking a special education teacher for students in the SOAR Extended School Year Program.
The Extended School Year (ESY) program runs for 5 weeks, 5 days per week (M-F).
July 7, 2025 - August 8, 2025. The program is held at the Early Childhood Center at Sharon Middle School.
Work day is 3.5 hours per day, approximate hours are 8:45am - 12:15pm (will be confirmed based on student transportation).
Pay is commensurate with experience in accordance with Instructional Assistant Collective Bargaining Aggreement.
Elementary SOAR (Student Opportunities for Academic Readiness): Students in the SOAR program have their academic content provided in a smaller learning environment using Discrete Trial Training or ABA-based learning with social inclusion within the larger school community. While students typically have an Autism Spectrum Disorder, however this is not the case for all students. The SOAR Program Description can be found HERE
The successful candidate for this position will have experience with students with communication impairments and autism spectrum or related disorders.
The duties of the ESY special education teacher include
- Direct instruction with students based on IEP goals,
- Development and oversight of Discrete Trial Training (DTT) Programming for students in SOAR program,
- Data collection
DESE Licensure required
Pay commensurate with expereince in accordance with the Sharon Teachers Collective Bargaining Agreement.
