Vocal Music Teacher - Grades K-1)

Position Information

Position Title:  Elementary Vocal Music Teacher
Department:    Fine Arts
Reports To:      Building Principal
FLSA Status:    Exempt
Salary Schedule: Certified Salary Schedule - 190 day contract
Location: Beebe Early Childhood (Grades K-1)

Position Purpose

To provide vocal music instruction to elementary students, fostering a love for music while developing musical knowledge, skills, and performance ability in alignment with district and state standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality vocal music instruction to elementary students in accordance with district curriculum and state standards.

• Direct Kindergarten and first-grade musical performances (some night-time dutes required)

• Introduce students to music concepts such as rhythm, pitch, melody, harmony, form, and expression.

• Teach students proper vocal techniques and music literacy skills.

• Prepare students for musical performances, including school concerts and programs.

• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and musical abilities.

• Manage classroom behavior and foster a safe, positive learning environment.

• Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and families to support student learning and school events.

• Maintain student records including attendance, grades, and assessments.

• Ensure care, inventory, and maintenance of instruments and classroom materials.

• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events as required.

• Comply State Board of Education rules, School Board of Education policies and District expectations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field.

• Valid Arkansas Teaching License with appropriate Music endorsement.

• Knowledge of vocal pedagogy and general music education practices.

• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience teaching vocal/general music at the elementary level.

• Piano proficiency for classroom instruction and accompaniment.
