Summary
The Family Services Assistant is responsible for working directly with customers and staff, providing courteous, friendly, and professional assistance. This key team member ensures that every customer that walks through the door is acknowledged and directed with care and efficiency. This position will also perform a range of support activities to assist with the daily operations of the organization, such as filing and performing routine clerical, data entry, and/or routine word processing work as assigned, and providing client assistance in enrolling in services via a computerized family portal. Bilingual and able to read, write and speak in English and Spanish proficiently is required.
HOURS
This is a full-time position, and business hours at the Palm Springs location is Monday through Thursday 8:00 am to 5:30 pm and Friday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. Longer hours, evenings, and weekends may be necessary on occasion.
PAYRATE: up to $19 per hour

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Greets and welcomes customers in a friendly and professional manner, creating a positive first impression and setting the tone for their experience.
- Maintain a professional and welcoming atmosphere. Implement daily opening and closing procedures, keep the front desk and waiting area clean, organized and safe.
- Manages appointments, efficiently processes arrivals and departures to minimize waiting times. Monitors lobby traffic, assesses customer flow, triage and implements strategies to reduce congestion.
- Monitor entry points, keep track of visitor sign-ins and enforce security protocols.
- Provides administrative support, which include data entry assignments, prepares and prints routine correspondence, letters, labels and/or other basic written material. Creates and updates flyers and other forms of publicity and organization/program forms. Opens, reads, routes, and distributes incoming mail, manages data base and other applications to transmit information or documents to customers.
- A High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Two years of experience in administrative office roles, including managing operations, coordinating schedules, and providing general office support.
- Computer/word processing skills required. Must possess proficient typing skills with a demonstrated ability to type 60-80 words per minute.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication.
- Experience working in a customer service environment. Must be customer service oriented with a compassionate customer service mindset: empathetic, responsive, patient, and conscientious.
