POSITION SUMMARY:
Position is 233 days and 13 paid Holidays; a typical work week is Monday - Friday with an expectation of no more than 40 hours per week. For weeks with less than five working days, daily hours only apply.
Provides transportation services in a school bus during field trips to children and teaching staff in our program. Assists the Facilities & Transportation Manager in ensuring the safety, maintenance, attractiveness and comfort of the facilities, property and equipment of the Early Learning Essential's program to comply with the Safe Environments requirements specified in the Head Start Performance Standards and local regulatory agencies. Assists in providing safe transportation services to all Head Start children. Ensures services support the agency's school readiness plan. This position is not eligible for telecommuting as it is front-line work in nature working face-to-face with families and/or children providing transportation services, as well as supporting classroom and center operations with facilities maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED certificate required or must be willing to obtain GED within 1 year of employment with agency financial assistance.
- Two (2) years' experience in the fields of building and grounds maintenance preferred.
- Extensive and verifiable experience in project/property management, supervision or leading projects.
- Strong technical skills in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, etc. Craftsman level expertise in at least one area.
- Must have a good driving record, have or be willing to obtain company paid CDL certification. Must obtain a CDL within three (3) months of employment with P and S endorsements.
- Ability to secure certification by State Office of Education as a Bus/CDL trainer within 6 months of employment.
- Hold a valid Utah Driver's License.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Some college education or relevant industry certification(s).
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge of hand tools.
- Skilled in performing electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work or repairs.
- Ability to perform mechanical repairs on pieces of motorized equipment.
- Must present evidence of adequate health as documented by a physician and able to lift 90 pounds.
- Skill and ability to prioritize in a highly diverse, remote environments.
- Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
- Ability to write and speak the English language in a proficient and professional manner to meet requirements of the job.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, community groups, and other related agencies and people.
