Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled childcare cook to join our team. This position involves preparing and serving nutritious, well-balanced meals to children while adhering to the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking and be committed to creating healthy, delicious meals that meet children’s dietary needs and preferences. Additionally, the cook will be responsible for developing a weekly menu and maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks for children, ensuring all meals meet CACFP guidelines for nutrition, portion sizes, and food safety
- Develop and create a weekly menu, taking into account the children’s nutritional needs, food allergies, and preferences
- Maintain inventory, order ingredients, and ensure the kitchen is stocked with necessary supplies
- Ensure all meals are prepared and served in accordance with food safety and sanitation regulations
- Collaborate with childcare staff to ensure the dietary needs of all children, including special diets, are met
- Create a positive and enjoyable mealtime experience, encouraging healthy eating habits among children
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, including daily cleaning tasks, sanitization, and proper food storage
- Communicate with parents regarding any dietary concerns, changes, or special requests
- Adhere to all CACFP record-keeping requirements, including documentation of meal counts and portion sizes
- Comply with all local health and safety regulations
- Perform other kitchen-related duties as needed to maintain smooth operation
Requirements:
- Previous experience in cooking or food preparation, preferably in a childcare, educational, or institutional setting
- Knowledge of CACFP guidelines and experience adhering to these standards
- Ability to create and plan nutritious, balanced meals for children
- Strong attention to detail and food safety standards
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Must pass a background check
