Job Title: Daytime Preschool Lead/Associate Teacher (Ages 3-5) Daytime Toddler Lead/Associate Teacher (Ages 2-3)
Location: Detroit, Michigan
Job Type: Part-Time/Full-Time (Typical Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
Wage: Starting at $13.75-17.00/hr
Reports To: Child Care Director/Center Manager/Administration


Job Description:

Early Start Childcare is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and dependable Daytime Child Care Lead/Associate Teacher to work with children ages 3-5 and 2-3. As a Daytime Teacher, you will create a positive, nurturing environment that supports the social, emotional, and educational development of young children. This role involves engaging children in age-appropriate, hands-on activities that foster curiosity, creativity, and learning. Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and engage children in a safe and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate learning activities that promote cognitive, language, social, and emotional development.
  • Encourage early learning through hands-on activities that foster curiosity, problem-solving, and creative expression.
  • Monitor childrens behavior and apply positive discipline techniques to promote healthy social development.
  • Communicate with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on childrens development, progress, and behavior.
  • Assist with meals and snacks, ensuring children's nutritional needs are met in a clean and organized space.
  • Support children with personal care needs, including toileting, hygiene, and other daily activities.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom throughout the day.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to ensure the smooth operation of the program and an effective learning environment.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay informed on the latest best practices in early childhood education.
  • Create developmentally appropriate learning opportunities that encourage childrens growth and learning.
  • Respond to emergencies, accidents, or behavioral issues following Early Start Childcares policies and procedures.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Child Development Associate (CDA) or related degree (AA, BA, MA) is preferred.
  • Prior experience in child care or early childhood education, especially with children ages 2-5, is highly preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development principles and the ability to implement developmentally appropriate practices.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • A genuine passion for working with young children and a commitment to supporting their growth and well-being.
  • Must be available to work daytime hours, typically from 7:00 AM to 3:30 or 4:00 PM.
