Position Summary:
The shipping and receiving lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all receiving, shipping and inventory of finished goods in accordance with the company’s standard operating procedures.
Essential Job Functions/Duties:
- Participate in the support of the company’s safety programs, promoting and maintaining a high level of awareness and adherence to defined employee safety requirements such as lock-out/tag-out, personal protective equipment, etc.
- Supports and promote the company’s goals through effective planning, communication, emphasizing the requirement for all team members to be efficient and effective in their respective responsibilities.
- Maintain and support positive employee relations, respect and fair treatment of fellow employees; ensure all employees and ideas are respected and valued and are leveraged to improve business results.
- Develop, implement, monitor, and manage Cold/Frozen Ingredient Storage, Dry Ingredient Storage, Dry Shipping, Receiving, & Warehousing policies, programs, and procedures.
- Evaluate procedures, systems, resources, and equipment to identify any deficiencies and implement needed changes or improvements.
- Oversee the daily operations of receiving, warehousing, staging, and dry shipping.
- Maintain existing inventory management system.
- Ability to receive track and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment throughout facility.
- Coordinate all outbound and inbound shipments.
- Identify needs and develop and formalize written procedures for improvements that increase department efficiency.
- Evaluate and train team members as team expands.
- Monitor product quality and work with Quality Assurance Manager and team to ensure specifications are met and GMP’s are adhered to.
- Effectively communicate company, plant, and department priorities to team members.
- Audit daily warehouse processes.
- Communicate with quality control, sanitation, and other departments to communicate and resolve issues impacting production and plant performance.
- Follows all OSHA safety rules, GMPs, and all food safety laws and regulations.
- Enforce all company policies in a fair and consistent manner.
- Maintain all implemented logs / forms related to shipping, receiving, warehousing, and ingredient storage.
- Able to read, sort, count and verify numbers and LOT info on incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Ability to pick, pack and ship orders according to system outputs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Requires experience with rules of FIFO, Allergen Compliance, GMPs’, Storage and Warehousing.
- Able to be on time and ready for work.
- Bilingual (Spanish and English) a plus.
- Ability to read and write in English and have effective written and verbal skills.
- Must have basic math skills.
- Knowledge of light equipment operation and hand tools.
- Ability to stoop stand and bend in a repetitive motion.
- Capable to lift to 50 lbs.
- Preferred experience in food warehouse management.
- Work with all department heads and attend management meetings.
- Have the necessary computer skills to perform job duties.
- Ability to train employees to operate equipment.
- Forklift operator license required.
- High School Diploma or GED. Post high school courses in related field preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee will be exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature.
