Essential Functions and Duties
- Lead Financial Operations: Oversee all financial and accounting operations with two direct reports, ensuring our resources are managed effectively to support our commitment to health, sustainability, and community.
- Build Robust Systems: Develop, implement, maintain, and ensure compliance with financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, sales taxes, and property taxes, reflecting our dedication to transparency and ethical practices.
- Provide Strategic Insights: Deliver status updates on the companys financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting key financial data, guiding strategic decisions that bring healthy, organic options to more communities.
- Forecast for Growth: Prepare short, intermediate, and long-term financial forecasts (income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow) for internal management and external stakeholders, supporting our expansion and mission.
- Analyze and Optimize: Review monthly results and provide actionable analysis to optimize operations and ensure we continue offering high-quality products at fair prices.
- Manage Commitments: Oversee the management of all leases, contracts, and other financial commitments, enabling our growth and allowing us to serve more customers.
- Develop Talent: Hire, train, develop, and appraise accounting staff effectively, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment where everyone contributes to our shared goals, taking corrective action as needed in line with company policy.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
Grocery/retail industry experience strongly preferred, with a deep understanding of the natural and organic foods sector.
10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 6 years managing direct reports.
Thorough knowledge of GAAP accounting (P&L, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flows).
Advanced proficiency in Excel (complex calculations, formulas, tables).
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Adaptability to thrive in a dynamic, mission-driven organization.
Strong leadership skills to mentor, motivate, train, and lead a team.
