Position Overview:
Earth Resources Corporation is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist with a background in heavy civil construction. This role is responsible for accurately processing weekly payroll for field and office employees, ensuring compliance with prevailing wage requirements, and certified payroll reporting.
The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of payroll experience, preferably in the construction industry, and is comfortable managing complex payrolls in a fast-paced, project-based environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees across multiple job sites
- Manage timecard collection, review, and approvals from supervisors and field foremen
- Prepare and submit certified payroll reports and prevailing wage documentation
- Ensure accurate job costing and labor allocations
- Maintain payroll records in compliance with company policies, state, and federal regulations
- Work closely with HR, Accounting, and Project Management teams to ensure accuracy of employee classifications, benefits, and deductions
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, taxes, and timekeeping
- Assist with onboarding new hires in the payroll system and support audits as needed
- Stay current on union agreements, labor laws, and compliance changes that impact payroll
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of payroll experience, preferably in heavy civil or construction industry
- Strong knowledge of certified payroll, Davis-Bacon, and prevailing wage requirements
- Familiarity with Vista by Viewpoint, Sage, or similar construction payroll software is a plus
- High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to meet tight deadlines in a high-volume environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and timekeeping systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Arizona payroll regulations
- Experience working on ADOT, municipal, or federal projects
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
