Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Safely operate truck to destination arriving on schedule
- Inspect truck for defects before and after trips and submit reports indicating truck conditions.
- Maintains driver log according to D.O.T. regulations
- Assists in loading and unloading truck. Always secures loads to trailers
- Verifies contents of load with manifest before leaving
- Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil and water and reports daily with inspection logs
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance
- Performs all assignments as directed
- To safely maneuver tractor & trailer on jobsite
- To conduct all operation of vehicle in a professional manner
- To operate vehicle in a courteous, efficient manner at all times
- To keep accurate and dependable vehicle documents (i.e. Insurance cards, cab cards, permits, registrations for trailers, etc.)
- Ability to identify minor maintenance issues that may occur on the road and manage repairs utilizing company resources within company policy for the same
- To adhere to appropriate safety procedures for securing of panels while unloading (i.e. safety chains, straps, etc.)
- Relevant documents or administrative work for assigned routes
- Other duties as assigned
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems in a calm and rational manner
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B with HAZMAT endorsement
- Ability to back into tight areas where pavement may not exist
- Ability to qualify for a D.O.T. Medical Card
- Ability to pass drug screening
