Job Description:
EarthSense Inc. is a leading field robotics company committed to transforming sustainable agriculture with innovative robotic solutions. Our robots empower farmers with data-driven insights, improve efficiency, and promote environmentally friendly farming practices. We are looking for a Robotics Technician to join our manufacturing team, where you will play a crucial role in assembling, maintaining, and testing our advanced robotic systems. Additionally, you will conduct field tests to ensure quality assurance. This role involves close collaboration with engineering and design teams to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions, directly contributing to the advancement of sustainable agriculture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, assemble and maintain robotic equipment, ensuring adherence to company standards.
- Evaluate robot performance in real-world environments, making necessary adjustments to improve operations.
- Work closely with engineers to advise, identify and troubleshoot technical issues and implement effective solutions.This frequently involves collaboration with software and electrical engineers.
- Utilize the Bill of Materials (BOM) for accurate tracking of parts and components, ensuring adequate inventory levels and collaborating on procurement strategies.
- Assist in developing and implementing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and product quality.
- Contribute to creating and maintaining user guides, assembly instructions, and troubleshooting documentation to support both internal teams and end-users.
Requirements:
- Proven experience assembling electrical and mechanical machines.
- Basic understanding of electrical wiring, sensors, and motor controllers.
- Proficient with soldering equipment, power tools and basic machine shop equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical issues with a keen attention to detail.
- Familiarity with Bill of Material and inventory management practices.
- Ability to adapt to new challenges and thrive in an independent, dynamic work environment.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to field locations for testing and support.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks in various positions, including standing, crouching, and kneeling.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of relevant trades certifications such as Electric Vehicle Fundamentals (EVF), Robotics Technician, or similar programs is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in the robotics or manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency with Ubuntu command line.
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks).
- Familiarity with communication protocols like RS485 and CAN.
- A basic familiarity with Linux environments. Bash is a plus.
