Position: Pet Store Customer Experience Specialist
Location: Happy Valley, OR Employment Type: Part-Time and Full-Time (3-4 days per week, 30-40 hours per week) Starting Pay: $17.00 – $22.00 per hour, depending on experience Schedule: Schedule includes evenings, weekends, and shift swaps as needed Note: The ideal candidate will be flexible in their availability.
About the Role:
As a Pet Store Customer Experience Specialist, you will be a key player in creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest while providing outstanding service through professional conduct and a shared passion for pets. You will help ensure a welcoming, organized, and engaging shopping experience that drives guest loyalty and sales.
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide best-in-class guest service by promptly greeting and assisting customers, responding to questions, and creating tailored solutions for pet owners.
- Prioritize guest experience above tasks and demonstrate that commitment by engaging with customers throughout the store.
- Ensure products are well-stocked, organized, and easy for guests to find.
- Accurately process purchases and returns using the POS system, handle cash and make correct change, and follow all checkout procedures.
- Answer phones and respond to voicemail promptly, courteously, and professionally. Handle customer complaints with empathy, escalating when appropriate.
- Recommend products based on customer needs, promote our in-house loyalty programs and exclusive brand offers through Astro, highlight promotions, and apply selling behaviors to every transaction.
- Keep all store areas—including self-wash stations, kitchen, restroom, and sales floor—clean and well-maintained per company guidelines.
- Participate in inventory counts, verify shipments, and ensure the accuracy of stock levels in the POS system.
- Adhere to opening/closing procedures and all standard operating procedures (SOPs).
What We’re Looking For:
- Must be 18 years or older
- Independent, self-motivated, and reliable team member.
- Flexible availability and willingness to work varying shifts as needed.
- Exceptional cleaning, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and creativity in delivering solutions.
- Ability to constructively manage pressure and stressful situations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills.
- Outgoing and welcoming personality with a passion for animals.
- Ability to work solo and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail, including basic math skills and POS operation.
- Capable of lifting 50 lbs repetitively and standing/moving throughout your shift.
Preferred Experience:
- Retail, sales, or pet industry background.
- Knowledge of pet nutrition and products.
