Medical Laboratory Scientist

Shift Schedule:

• Tuesdays to Fridays: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
• Saturdays: 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Medical Lab Scientist for a 6-month contract position with the opportunity for extension or permanent conversion. This is an excellent chance for a professional with a background in clinical laboratory sciences to apply their expertise in testing human fluids and tissues, while ensuring accurate results and quality control. Key Responsibilities:

• Perform a variety of complex tests and analysis on human samples (e.g., blood, urine).
• Ensure accurate and timely release of patient results, following department SOPs.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation, troubleshooting as needed.
• Review quality control data to ensure accurate test results.
• Comply with laboratory safety protocols, including the use of PPE and proper disposal of biohazards.
• Act as a point of contact for departmental inquiries, facilitating workflow coordination.
• Assist with proficiency testing, validation studies, and investigating deviations from specifications.
• Handle the ordering of laboratory supplies and chemicals as needed.
• Stay current with industry standards and regulations to ensure compliance.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or Biological Sciences.

Experience: At least 1 year of related experience in a clinical laboratory, including blood testing, is preferred.

Skills:

• Strong verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Proficient with PC and laboratory systems (preferred).
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.

Certifications: Lab certifications are a plus.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Comfortable working in a lab environment with clinical and environmental samples.
• Ability to work with chemicals, reagents, and equipment specific to laboratory testing.
• Must be able to work in a medium to high noise level environment.
• Ability to sit/stand for extended periods.

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
