Director / VP of Finance

Position Overview:
East 57th Street Partners is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director / VP of Finance on behalf of our private equity-backed client in the professional services industry, specializing in construction and engineering. This role is the first internal hire for the Finance and FP&A team, reporting directly to the CFO and serving as their strategic right hand. The position is open to remote candidates, with a preference for those located in the Northeastern U.S. or within the EST/CST time zones. Monthly travel to the company’s headquarters in the NYC metro area will be required.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in private equity environments, with hands-on experience in Deltek Vision, financial reporting, and Power BI dashboard creation. This role requires a process- and systems-oriented leader capable of building dynamic financial models, managing PE board reporting packages, and establishing scalable finance processes as the company grows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Financial Leadership: Partner closely with the CFO to develop and execute the company’s financial strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and private equity goals.
- Financial Reporting & Modeling: Set up robust financial reporting processes and dynamic financial models, including cash flow forecasting and PE board reporting packages.
- Deltek Vision & Power BI: Leverage Deltek Vision to streamline financial operations and create insightful Power BI dashboards to support data-driven decision-making.
- Process & Systems Improvement: Design and implement efficient finance processes and systems to support scalability and operational excellence.
- Private Equity Collaboration: Prepare and present financial reports to private equity stakeholders, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and strategic insights.
- Team Development & Leadership: Mentor and coach Senior Analysts as the finance team expands, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Cash Flow & Forecasting: Oversee cash flow modeling, financial forecasting, and budgeting processes, ensuring financial stability and growth.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with operational teams to align financial planning with business performance, providing strategic insights and support.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA or MBA highly preferred.
- Experience:
- 8 years of progressive finance leadership experience, ideally in a Director or VP role within private equity-backed companies.
- Extensive experience in professional services, with a strong background in construction and engineering industries.
- Proven success in setting up financial reporting systems, dynamic financial models, and board reporting packages.
- Experience mentoring and coaching finance teams in a growing organization.
- Technical Skills:
- Mandatory: Proficiency with Deltek Vision and Power BI.
- Strong knowledge of financial modeling, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and process improvement methodologies.
- Leadership & Communication:
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders and private equity partners.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
- Travel: Willingness to travel monthly to the NYC metro area for meetings and collaboration with the executive team.
Compensation:
A competitive compensation package will be offered, including a base salary of $190,000 to $235,000 plus a performance-based bonus.
