East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation (EANDC) is a Not-For-Profit 501(c)(3) Charitable Housing Development Organization. EANDC develops, owns, and manages market rate and affordable housing for low-income, elderly, and veteran residents in Summit County and Stark County, Ohio. We are the largest provider of affordable housing in Metropolitan Akron. EANDC also provides home buying counseling, energy efficiency audits, free energy-efficient appliances, and more to qualified Summit and Stark County residents.
General Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
The Security Officer plays a vital role in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment at all organizational facilities. This position involves patrolling premises, monitoring security systems, enforcing organizational policies, and responding to incidents appropriately. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, reliable, and aligned with our values of dignity, safety, and community. General tasks and responsibilities of this role are outlined below.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor entrances, exits, and common areas to ensure safety and authorized access.
- Perform regular patrols of the facility and surrounding grounds.
- Provide courteous assistance to visitors, clients, and staff while enforcing security protocols.
- Respond to incidents, emergencies, and alarms in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Maintain accurate records of security-related incidents, logs, and daily activity reports.
- Assist with crowd management and event security during organizational programs or special events.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement or emergency services when needed.
- Ensure all areas comply with fire safety and emergency evacuation regulations.
- Support front desk or reception when needed, including visitor check-in and screening.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings related to safety, equity, and trauma-informed care.
- Assist organizational leadership with any tasks related to the financial support and development of the organization as needed.
- All work will be performed according to the organization?s policies, standards, core values and in the spirit of the organization?s mission and vision statements.
Work Environment:
- May involve working evenings, weekends, or holidays depending on program needs.
- Requires standing/walking for extended periods and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- May require occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
