Assistant Principal

PRIMARY FUNCTION
Assistant principal provides support for key Curriculum and Instruction initiatives, provides staff support, and helps run the administrative day-to-day activities in the school.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Understand how to communicate expectations to teachers to meet demands of assessments and standards.
- Demonstrates professional and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, parents, school personnel, and members of the community
- Serves as a leadership presence for staff, students and parents
- Ability to travel to more than one work location in the course of the day if assigned to an itinerant position
- Ability to prepare required written reports
- Ability to monitor and ensure appropriate student behavior, including outdoor activity areas, gymnasiums, etc.
- Author reviews of teachers
- Work with the Principal in conjunction with the instructional needs of staff
- Possess high moral standards, professionalism, and integrity
- Performs other duties as assigned by school administrator

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with the school principal and central office to ensure excellence in areas of operation
- Provides a positive school environment that promotes student learning
- Must be able to work with all levels of staff in all different departments
- Complies with state laws, school board policies, and administrative regulations
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed for an orderly and productive school
- Encourages the productive citizenship and respectful conduct of staff and students
- Must have good organization, time management, problem solving and judgement skills
- Identifies resources and personnel to meet the needs of individual students
- Maintains accurate, complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
- Informs parents regarding student progress, the instructional program, and other school issues
- Demonstrates positive school-community relations
- Engages in professional growth activities and demonstrates professionalism
- Contributes to the total school program
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
212 days per year Additional days may be contracted for specific job assignments. Salary according to School Board Pay Schedule.
EVALUATION
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on the evaluation of licensed personnel.
