Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist

We are seeking a new team member for a Part-Time position within our hospital with shared responsibilities as a Veterinary Assistant and Customer Service Representative.

The chosen candidate must be able to interact with a variety of clients with tact and diplomacy, must be friendly and compassionate. This is a part-time position, so our ideal candidate should be able to work between 12-28 hours a week. The availability to work 2 Saturday’s a month is required.

Job Duties:

- Providing quality, professional service to all clients whether in person, over the phone, or through email.
- Readily acknowledges and engages clients and actively listens to their concerns. Serves as liaison between client and DVM.
- Promptly answering phone calls or replying to email messages and efficiently directing questions to the appropriate individuals.
- Demonstrates ability to triage situations and advise a client when an appointment is recommended. Makes reminder calls as necessary.
- Accurately scheduling appointments using our electronic medical records software program.
- Precisely dispensing pharmaceuticals as needed and reviewing label directions with client.
- Using our computer information system to accurately process client payments, and maintain current client/patient records.
- Ensures appropriate forms are completed for euthanasia's, surgeries, etc.
- Providing informative and knowledgeable information to clients regarding our products and services.
- Providing clients with estimates for various procedures and/or surgeries over the phone.
- Accurately processing payments and balancing cash receipts.
- Assisting in maintaining the cleanliness of client areas.
- Performs other related tasks as required.
- Veterinary Assistant Duties include but are not limited to preparing rooms between patients, maintaining a clean hospital environment, animal restraint (must be able to lift 40lb), cleaning and preparation of surgical packs.

Job Requirements:

- High School Diploma or Equivalent required, AAS or higher preferred
- A minimum of 1-2 yrs experience in customer service (with external customers) in a related field required
- Some lifting is required (must be able to lift 40lb)
- Animal Handling
