Position Summary: The Senior Communications Manager will lead the development and implementation of an integrated communications strategy to enhance the visibility, reputation, and impact of EBALDC. This role is responsible for managing relationships with key stakeholders, including media, community partners, government entities, donors, and the public, to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with the organization’s mission of fostering equitable and thriving communities.

- Develop and execute a comprehensive external communications strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities2.
- Ensure all communications reflect the organization’s values of equity, inclusion, and community empowerment.
- Establish KPIs to measure the effectiveness of communication initiatives and adjust strategies based on data-driven insights.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including media, community partners, government entities, funders, donors, and residents.
- Develop press releases, op-eds, media kits, and talking points to proactively promote organizational initiatives and respond to issues.
- Oversee crisis communication planning and execution to protect the organization’s reputation during high-stakes situations.
- Lead the creation of compelling content, including annual reports, newsletters, blog posts, social media campaigns, and marketing collateral.
- Ensure consistent messaging and visual branding across all external communications channels.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop impactful narratives that highlight the organization’s programs, outcomes, and community impact.
- Partner with leadership to craft messages that support advocacy efforts for affordable housing, economic development, and other key policy areas.
- Monitor local, state, and national policy trends relevant to the organization’s work and develop communication strategies to address them.
- Collaborate with program, development, and property management teams to align messaging and amplify organizational impact.
- Partner with HR to support internal communication initiatives that reflect organizational values and culture.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful communications strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
- Strong media relations skills, including experience managing press inquiries and acting as a spokesperson.
- Proficiency in using digital communication tools and platforms, including social media, content management systems, and email marketing software.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including media, community partners, government entities, donors, and the public.
