Early Head Start Teacher - Infant/Toddler Program
About This Opportunity
East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is seeking a full-time Teacher to join our Early Head Start program in Newport, RI. This is your chance to build a rewarding career while making a meaningful difference in the lives of infants and toddlers during their crucial developmental years.
$2,500 Sign-On Bonus Available! Due to the critical nature of this position, EBCAP is offering a two-step sign-on bonus totaling $2,500 for external applicants.
Your Role
As an Early Head Start Teacher, you will:
- Assist Lead Teachers in implementing developmentally appropriate activities
- Create a nurturing, safe classroom environment for infants and toddlers
- Promote children's health, nutrition, and educational development
- Observe and document children's behaviors to identify strengths and growth areas
- Follow Head Start Performance Standards, RI Child Care Center Licensing Regulations, and RI Department of Education Early Learning Standards
- Implement the Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) approach
- Utilize Creative Curriculum to provide high-quality learning experiences
Qualifications
Candidates must have excellent communication skills to effectively engage with parents, children, staff, and community partners. You must also meet ONE of these educational requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED with:
- Minimum of 9 credit hours in Early Childhood Education (ECE)
- Supervised teaching experience in an ECE setting
- Enrollment in a Child Development Associate (CDA) program (to be completed within one year of hire)
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential with:
- Supervised teaching experience in an ECE setting
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in:
- Early Childhood Education or related field
- Supervised teaching experience in an ECE setting
*Related fields include: Human Development, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Education, Pediatric Nursing, Home Economics/Family & Consumer Science, Physical Education & Recreation, and Child & Family Studies. Candidates with related degrees must provide detailed college transcripts showing appropriate ECE coursework.
