What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housing Advocate position at East Bay Community Action Program?
East Bay Community Action Program is hiring for a full-time, temporary, Housing Advocate. The Housing Advocate provides enrollment and case management for EBCAPs home stabilization programs. This position will perform activities related to community outreach, identification of EBCAP housing clients, conducting client assessments, managing housing information and referrals for Family Development, client goal setting, and linkages according to the benchmark goals established in HUD and RIDOH grants and identified EBCAP initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Be familiar with the tenants and requirements of HUD, RIDOH, DHS and assigned program grants.
- Provide case management services that link clients to services that will lead to housing stabilization. This includes interviews and assessments of homeless families for placement in the EBCH homeless program.
- Provide daily community outreach/recruitment for identified EBCAP initiatives as needed. Work collaboratively with EBCAP staff to address client needs referred through Unite Us, Contact Us, EBCAPs social services extension and other sources.
- Complete home visits to assess clients current living situation and develop goals for continued home stabilization and/or lead safety.
- Responsible for the submission of data for monthly and quarterly reports required for the HUD and RIDOH grants and other EBCAP initiatives.
- Participate in regularly scheduled supervision with Manager of Housing Support Services and/or Senior Director Workforce Development & Social Services.
- Attend trainings and conferences to keep abreast of issues that affect the homeless population as necessary.
- Attend all staff meetings as required including but not limited to family development team meetings and family center meetings.
- Be proficient in HMIS data entry.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in human services or related field preferred or High School/GED required with 1 year experience.
- Communicate and coordinate with other EBCAP programs, to accept referrals for EBCAP consumers who have the need for other services.
- Be able to complete comprehensive/holistic assessment and implement/follow up with appropriate referrals/linkages including selected resources.
- Establish trusting/non-judgmental relationships with consumers and set appropriate boundaries.
