THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Park District is committed to providing outstanding services to one of its greatest assets - its employees. The Human Resources Division recruits, develops, and maintains a talented and diverse workforce of excellence with the goal of reflecting the communities the Park District serves. The Division is responsible for employee-labor relations and negotiations, recruitment and classification, job training, career development, and employee recognition, performance management, and workforce diversity. The Division also oversees risk management, workers’ compensation, and employee safety, as well as administers employee benefits, including those for retirees, and maintains the central archive for employee records, personnel transactions, and position control. In addition, the Division serves as the Park District’s Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Office. This position reports daily to Park District headquarters at 2950 Peralta Oaks Ct., Oakland with remote work only on a very limited and intermittent basis.
Reporting to the General Manager or a Deputy General Manager, the Assistant General Manager – Human Resources leads a talented team of 28.75 fulltime equivalent employees with a 2025 operating budget of $19.7 million. Priorities for 2025 include supporting the replacement of the Park District’s Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) system, expanding training opportunities to newly hired employees and promoted supervisors and managers to ensure success in their new positions, evaluating and revising Park District classifications to attract a talented and diverse workforce, removing unnecessary barriers to employment, expanding recruitment outreach efforts to community partners, and streamlining Human Resources’ processes and procedures through the effective use of technology and eliminating practices that provide limited value.
Salary : $239,220 - $320,590
