We are seeking a dedicated and skilled IT Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will assist the IT Director in designing, installing, and managing a wide range of IT services, including hardware, software, and networking solutions. You will provide responsive technical support to staff and patrons while promoting technology best practices and developing educational content to enhance technology literacy.
Key Responsibilities:
Department Administrative Support
- Oversee and run the IT department with minimal supervision from the IT Director when needed
- Address complex, district-wide technical challenges to ensure seamless operations
- Represent the district in technology-related matters, maintaining relationships with external technicians and vendors
Technology Operations
- Research, install, configure, maintain, and upgrade district technology, including computers, servers, firewalls, telephone systems, and peripherals
- Manage network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, and wireless access points
- Administer Google Workspace (formerly G Suite), including managing user accounts and groups, Assist in the deployment and training of staff in the transition to Microsoft 365
- Perform remote system management and entry-level server management
Device Management
- Configure, deploy, and maintain Apple devices and Chromebooks, including iPads for circulation and patron use
- Plan, install, and manage the district's Unifi network and Unifi Protect video security system
- Regularly evaluate and enhance device and network security, authorizing White Hat penetration testing as needed
Technical Support and Training
- Provide timely technical support to staff and patrons for hardware and software issues, ensuring prompt resolutions
- Instruct staff and patrons on safe, secure, and effective technology usage, including device security best practices
- Develop and document standard operating procedures and deployments for new computers for staff and public use
Media Content Creation
- Operate cameras and peripherals to produce high-quality video and audio recordings
- Edit video and audio content to deliver polished and informative productions
- Teach others how to use the camera, how to edit, etc.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage IT department inventory and maintain detailed records, statistics, and reports
- Lead teams for large-scale IT projects and supervise assigned staff or volunteers
- Anticipate and communicate departmental needs to library administration, recommending and implementing process improvements
- Support administrative tasks, including assisting with HR software and reporting
- Troubleshoot and resolve malfunctioning equipment by identifying hardware or software-related issues
- Replace malfunctioning components, update software, and provide end-user application support
- Assist with special projects and tasks assigned by library administration
- May collaborate with library departments and management to identify software training needs
- Represent the library in community partnerships, workshops, and conferences
- Serve on library committees and contribute to district-wide initiatives
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE, BUT MAY NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- Perform repetitive hand/wrist/arm movements, including keyboarding and grasping/gripping
- Stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time
- Climb, stoop, bend, reach, and kneel while deploying or troubleshooting equipment
- Lift, handle, push, and pull items such as technology equipment and servers weighing up to 10 pounds frequently, up to 30 pounds occasionally, and up to 50 pounds rarely
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSE, ETC. REQUIRED BY POSITION:
- Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education to maintain and improve technical skills
- Clear communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license with a clean driving record
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Primarily performed indoors in a climate-controlled, mechanically lit environment
- May occasionally involve outdoor work or travel, subject to weather and road conditions

A high school diploma or GED, and an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience that demonstrates the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position effectively
