Part Time Insurance / Prior Authorization Specialist with Front Desk Coverage
Location: Primary – Holly Springs, NC (ECPC Holly Springs Interventional Pain and Spine)
Occasional coverage at Apex and Knightdale locations as needed
Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Department: Administrative – ECPC Holly Springs Interventional Pain and Spine
Reports To: Practice Manager, ECPC Holly Springs
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week
Position Summary:
At ECPC Pain Specialists Holly Springs, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care guided

detail-oriented, reliable, and patient-focused Insurance / Prior Authorization Specialist to join
our administrative team in Holly Springs, NC.
This individual will play a critical role in ensuring patients receive timely and appropriate care by
managing prior authorizations for medications, imaging, and procedures, as well as conducting
insurance verifications. The ideal candidate will also provide occasional front desk coverage and
support our team in fostering a welcoming and efficient environment for patients and staff alike.

Key Responsibilities
- Obtain, review, and submit prior authorizations for medications, diagnostic imaging
(including MRIs), and in-office and outpatient pain procedures.
- Verify insurance coverage and eligibility, including Medicare and Medicaid, and interpret
benefit information for both patients and staff.
- Navigate and utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems (eClinicalWorks) to
accurately document and retrieve insurance and patient information.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure timely scheduling of
procedures and appointments.
- Handle appeals and denials processes with insurance providers, demonstrating
persistence and advocacy for patient care.
- Provide courteous and professional phone and in-person communication with patients
regarding authorizations, benefits, and billing inquiries.
- Serve as back-up front desk receptionist as needed—checking in patients, collecting
insurance information, answering phones, and maintaining a positive patient experience.
- Assist with general office support, including preparing rooms, assisting with billing
inquiries, and other administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in insurance verifications and prior authorizations.
- Experience in pain management or a specialty practice is strongly preferred.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience using EMR systems.
- Strong working knowledge of medical terminology, CPT codes, and various insurance
plans.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

- Occasional travel to Apex and Knightdale locations for coverage support may be
required.
