Job Description
East Catholic High School is looking for a school facility/maintenance worker responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors. This job involves a variety of maintenance, repair, custodial, and operational tasks to support the daily functions of the school and its facilities. This person will report directly to the Head of Facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
· Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on school facilities, including plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and structural components.
· Inspect facilities for safety hazards or maintenance needs and report issues to the Head of Facilities.
· Assist with larger repair projects as directed.
· Maintain school grounds, including mowing lawns, trimming hedges, raking leaves, and removing debris, maintaining and lining athletic fields.
· Ensure walkways and parking lots are safe and free of hazards, including snow and ice removal.
· Set up and break down furniture and equipment for school events, meetings, and activities.
· Assist with moving furniture, supplies, and equipment as needed.
· Ensure proper functioning of school security systems, including locks and alarms.
· Adhere to health and safety standards and regulations.
· Ensure that cleaning supplies and maintenance equipment are used and stored safely.
· Participate in emergency drills and assist with emergency preparedness measures.
· Respond promptly to maintenance requests and prioritize tasks effectively.
· Collaborate with staff, contractors, and vendors to resolve facility-related issues.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid CT driver’s license.
- Prior experience in facilities maintenance, custodial work, or related field preferred.
- Prior experience in landscaping preferred.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects and working in various weather conditions.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility with work hours.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
