Summary

The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) works closely with the Behavior Support Team and school intervention teams to develop highly-effective behavior intervention programs. Through data analysis, functional assessments, and regular communication with all parties involved, the BCBA works to address the unique needs of each child. The BCBA also provides ongoing support to staff in identifying problem behaviors, modeling techniques, and offering regular professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with the Special Education/Student Services Director at each district to develop coordinated behavior management programs using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles
  • Plans and provides support in the implementation of programs, policies and best practices relative to the management of child behavior - including children with Autism, Emotional Behavioral Disorder, and disabilities that may require a 504 or IEP
  • Develops and provides ongoing professional development in the area of positive behavior management (PBIS) to all staff, including modeling of instructional practices and techniques
  • Consults with building principals, school psychologists, teachers and other specialists in developing and monitoring behavior management strategies for general and special education children
  • Provides resources and materials to support teachers, support staff and parents in developing self-help and social skills
  • Conducts Functional Behavior Assessments and educational assessments to identify the function of challenging behavior and inform development of behavior support plans
  • Collects and analyzes data as part of assessments; uses data to formulate and monitor individual Behavior Intervention Plans to promote academic and social progress
  • May attend IEP, eligibility or other meetings as necessary to provide related behavioral information
  • Works directly with children as a means of providing hands-on training to the Behavior Support Team and district staff in areas related to behavior management strategies, avoidance of aversive techniques and managing assaultive behavior
  • Stays abreast of current research and changes to programs and/or policies; coordinates the necessary changes with administration and trains staff accordingly
  • May provide supervision to RBTs and BTS, or to staff working to obtain related certification
  • Maintains all necessary documentation of child performance, submit reports in a timely manner and completes required paperwork within established timeframes
  • Provide direct training and support to parents of students receiving services during team meetings or home visit sessions
  • Performs other specific job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in behavior analysis, special education, or related discipline
  • Valid Board Certified Behavior Analyst certification/licensure
  • Experience working in K-12 educational setting which includes the use of intervention planning and behavioral management techniques
  • Must be able to meet any and all mandated health requirements
  • A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment
  • Compliance with drug-free workplace rules and Board policies

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
