What are the responsibilities and job description for the Telehealth/School Nurse Coordinator position at East Central Ohio Educational Service Center?
In coordination with Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools and the Aultman Foundation, the East Central Ohio ESC is seeking a full-time, Registered Nurse for the 2025-2026 school year. This position will serve students in two roles within the Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools. Under the direction and funding of the Aultman Foundation, this position will coordinate telehealth services and work with students to ensure care is provided quickly and efficiently. Outside of telehealth services, this position will work closely with the district School Nurse to manage student needs, including required screenings, medication, health-related education, and day-to-day care.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current RN license in the State of Ohio
- Valid Ohio license or permit appropriate for the assignment (State Board of Education)
- Record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment
- Prior experience working with youth in a medical setting; extensive knowledge or normal growth & development in youth ages PK-12
- Valid Driver’s License
Telehealth Coordinator Responsibilities:
- Identifies students, staff or family members that are appropriate for a telehealth visit
- Ensures that consent, FERPA, and HIPAA have been obtained from the parent or legal guardian
- Obtains insurance, demographics, and pharmacy information on the patient
- Completes the nurse intake forms accurately and completely
- Effectively communicates with the partner office staff to facilitate scheduling the appointment
- Assists the provider with the appointment as a telehealth presenter, working within their scope of practice according to their licensure
- Communicates with the provider, to ensure that discharge instructions are provided to student/parent or guardian/or staff member
- Educates student/parent or guardian/or staff member all testing and medications that were ordered per the ordering provider
- Notifies the provider immediately of any abnormal lab results that are received
- Restocks and cleans the telehealth cart after use according to protocol
- Performs all required documentation and maintains accurate records
School Healthcare Professional:
Works with the District School Nurse to:
- Participate in health prevention activities, such as immunization, obesity prevention, substance abuse assessment, tobacco control, asthma education, and promoting health and safety
- Help to identify safety and health hazards; investigates and documents injuries
- Maintain the clinic(s), requisitions supplies and oversees any cleaning, repair or replacement of equipment
- Develop and evaluates procedures for the safe storage and administration of medications
- Provide assistance to sick and injured students; administers first aid as required
- Ensure that the immunization of all students is in compliance with state law
- Review completed medical emergency authorization forms; communicates with staff when required to protect students' health or well-being
- Make exclusion or readmission recommendations regarding students with communicable diseases or other health concerns
- Perform all required state minimum student health screening activities; assists with kindergarten screenings when applicable
- Instruct teachers in the early identification of students' health risks; evaluates suspected medical, visual or hearing problems.
- Train staff in standard practices related to student assistance (i.e., first aide, administering medications, etc.). Monitor student care and reports unsafe practices
- Maintain accurate records and supervise the preparation of clinical records to ensure accuracy. Submits reports timely.
- Report suspected child abuse and/or neglect to legal authorities as required by law
- Maintain a working relationship with community health resources
- Participate in conferences, staff meetings, and professional growth opportunities as directed
- Work with other professionals and community resources to provide drug prevention awareness, grief counseling, conflict mediation, etc.
- Participate in parent conferences, program activities and professional development opportunities as directed

- 184 Day Contract
- Based on $28.50/hr.
