ECO Family Health Center, Inc. has an immediate Referral Coordinator position available at our Henryetta location. This is a full-time position Monday through Friday, 7:30 A.M. - 4:30 P.M.
Applicants must be self-motivated, computer literate, comfortable speaking with people and follow instructions as directed by supervisor. Medical referral experience and medical terminology is preferred.

General Summary of Duties: As a Referral Coordinator you are responsible for providing patients with a warm, authentic, and compassionate welcome to the services provided. A Referral Coordinator sends referrals, pre-certifications, and pre-authorizations for managed care insurance plans.
Essential Functions:
- Works with staff and providers to arrange and schedule outside referral appointments.
- Obtains prior authorization from insurance company when needed
- Documents all referral activity, follow-up from referral source, and patient/staff communication in patient’s EHR to ensure completion of referral.
- Works closely with the outside referral source and clinical staff/providers to overcome any obstacles that may prevent patient from completing referral.
- Actively works to ‘close the referral loop’ in a timely manner by obtaining consultation notes, diagnostic testing results, screening procedures, etc. from referral source.
- Correctly scans documentation of referral results in patient’s electronic medical record after reviewed from patient’s ordering PCP, closing the referral loop.
- Adheres to team concept by assisting other staff as needed.
- Secures patient information and maintains patient confidentiality. Complies with all HIPPA privacy and security rules/laws.
- Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with rules and regulations set forth by the governing body.
- Serves and protects the organization by adhering to professional standards, facility policies and procedures and state, federal local requirements.
- Observes OSHA universal precautions. Properly disposes of bio-hazard material. Receives OSHA’s blood borne pathogens training upon hire and annually. Follows Infection Control guidelines and policies.
- Participates in accreditation and quality improvement activities. Must be flexible, polite/pleasant, dependable, neat and clean in appearance.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks, work with limited oversight, and speak distinctly and courteously on telephone.
- Must be able to travel to any of the ECOFHC sites to help provide coverage when needed.
Working Relationships:
This position requires frequent contact with other ECO Health personnel to give and receive information and/or to provide assistance. The employee is required to interact with patients/clients, health care providers and the general public in the performance of the job. Tact and diplomacy are required in the performance of duties. The employee may be required to occasionally deal with hostile persons.
Working Conditions:
- Indoors in climate controlled building with an occasional outdoor activity.
- May be subject to standing and/or walking for prolonged periods of time.
- Smoking/tobacco use not allowed on grounds or in Agency buildings or vehicles.
- Exposed to unpleasant odors, bio-hazardous materials, and cleaning solutions.
- OSHA category: performs tasks that involve exposure to blood borne pathogens.
Minimum Education Requirements:
- High school or GED completion with basic computer and keyboarding skills required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
