What are the responsibilities and job description for the Executive Director position at East Central Soccer District?
Job Summary:
The Director of Operations will implement the organization’s vision and mission, coordinating soccer and business operations while helping guide the strategic direction of the district. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the district with its 17 independent clubs, this role reports to East Central’s Executive Committee. This is a salaried, part-time position whose duties are carried out both remotely and in person, and will average approximately 30 hours per week, with some weeks requiring as many as 60, some as few as 5. Will require evening and some weekend availability.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the President, Executive Committee and full Board of Directors (BOD) suggesting, planning and executing actions and programs to ensure the operational, financial and player development success of the district.
- Schedule Competitive and recreational leagues within the district.
- Develop strong working relationships with each of the clubs in the district, as well as partners and other stakeholders and our state governing body, Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association (WYSA).
- With oversight by the Executive Committee, help prepare and manage program budgets and allocation of resources.
- Manage district website updates.
- Plan, organize and attend the district’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) as well as monthly meetings and various committee meetings as they arise.
- Provide comprehensive written management reports to the BOD monthly.
- Expand and diversify revenue generation activities and other funding strategies that ensure organizational sustainability and growth as well as the ability to provide for new programs and initiatives.
- Lead an annual review of district bylaws and policies, suggesting changes as needed.
- Refine existing processes, systems and policies to ensure consistency and an efficient and effective workflow.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of bachelor's degree; professional experience to be considered in lieu of a degree
- 5 years experience in soccer or sports management; prior experience running a youth sports organization a plus.
- Successful track record of revenue generation and/or fundraising to support key initiatives.
- Demonstrable ability to build relationships, particularly among competing clubs or interests.
- Ability to think and plan strategically and practically to translate the mission, vision and strategic initiatives into a results-oriented environment.
- Knowledge of the state, regional and national soccer landscape to help direct and navigate the success of the district.
- A positive, growth-mindset personality that can collaborate with soccer and business professionals.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including Google Workspace/G Suite, including Sheets, Docs, Meet and Calendar.
