Overview

The Retail Associate (Cannasseur) is responsible for sales and customer service within the retail dispensary, maintaining brand standards in customer interactions and working to support sales goals as directed by the Dispensary Manager. Retail Associates are responsible for operating within the Maine Adult Use program guidelines per East Coast Cannabis’ best practices

Responsibilities

  • Monitors security systems for customers at the store entrance, permitting access to customers on an individual basis after verifying the customer’s age via valid identification.
  • Follows ECC protocols for customer verification and first purchase onboarding, collecting and retaining customer documents per Maine regulations. Inputs customer information data into the POS software.
  • Assists customers in product selection, builds orders and finalizes transactions. Sells products to customers within brand values and in support of Dispensary Manager led sales initiatives and goals, utilizing high touch soft skills.
  • Utilizes POS software for transactions and basic register protocols such as register balancing and inventory management.
  • Answers phones and online messages within brand standards and following customer service protocols.
  • Demonstrates proficient product knowledge and an ability to accurately represent all retail products to ECC brand standards. Relays product knowledge, specifications and information to customers as a representative of the East Coast Brand, using language and information in line within brand values and standards.
  • Demonstrates proficient cannabis knowledge on topics such as, but not limited to, industry trends, local regulations, ECC testing, growing and manufacturing methodologies and general cannabis science.
  • Performs basic inventory management including daily counts and reconciliation and follows company best practices for inventory storage, handling and movement.
  • Merchandise and zone store inventory to maintain brand aesthetics.
  • Performs general cash handling of customer transaction.
  • Follows ECC security best practices and basic protocols.
  • Performs basic maintenance and updates to in-house menus, displays and literature.
  • Research industry trends and educational resources as delegated by leadership.
  • Daily cleaning and maintenance of the retail store to include bathrooms, floors, general dusting, displays, and any other maintenance tasks as delegated by leadership.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to articulate product specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize basic retail sales techniques.
  • Ability to work towards and achieve staged sales goals.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strict accuracy on compliance tasks.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Must obtain and maintain the Maine Office of Cannabis Policy Individual Identification Card (IIC).

Work Environment:

  • Indoor, climate-controlled retail store setting.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand for long shifts.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to work comfortably in tight spaces with respect to co-workers comfort zones at times.
  • Outgoing personality, friendly and customer engaging, team forward perspectives.

Required Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Associates degree or higher preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • A minimum of 3 years customer service experience required.
  • Sales, retail or restaurant experience preferred.
  • Cannabis industry experience preferred.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
