Position Overview:
As wholesale buyer, you will be responsible for purchasing goods for resale to our wholesale and retail partners. We are looking for a candidate with experience negotiating pricing, discount terms and transportation agreements with suppliers. Buyer will purchase for our 3 distribution warehouses, strategically placed across the United States. You will play a crucial role in strategic partnerships with our suppliers. Analyze past buying trends, sales records, and price to best meet our company needs. May conduct meetings with suppliers and attend conventions across the US for buying.
Key Responsibilities:
- Selecting and reordering goods that fit the budget and purchasing requirements for our organization
- Meeting with suppliers and negotiating transportation arrangements, prices, discounts, and credit terms
- Managing the distribution of goods to outlets and managing overstock
- Maintaining the required stock levels of our organization
- Establishing and maintaining contact with merchandise suppliers
- Keeping records of all transactions and submitting them to the accounting department for auditing
- Strong interpersonal skills to work with team members, clients, and suppliers
- Negotiation skills to work with suppliers and make better deals for the company
- An understanding of purchase order software platforms, experience with Epicor Prophet 21, a plus
- Good attention to detail to ensure all purchase orders are accurate and in on time
- Ability to work with a team
- IT skills to troubleshoot essential computer programs
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Negotiating skills to get the best goods for the correct prices
- Problem-solving skills to solve stock and inventory issues
- Analysis skills to identify the required goods to buy from market reports, sales promotion materials and product events
- Organizational skills to monitor merchandise and purchase orders
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s in administration, Economics, Marketing or Accounting. Related experience may take the place of degree. (Not required, but appreciated)
· Proven experience (5 years) in a similar role within a buying department or similar environment. Experience buying for multiple locations is a plus.
· In-depth knowledge of buying, wholesale, and purchasing systems.
· Strong strategic planning and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
· Demonstrated experience in budget management and vendor relationship management.
