Job Title: Groomer

Reports To: Practice Manager

 

Summary: Provides compassionate care to grooming patients of East Dallas Veterinary Clinic.  This position is a 50% commission from grooming sales during the sales period.  Groomer must provide their own equipment (Clippers, cleaner, etc), EDVC will provide the infastructure needed to operate on a daily basis. This position is paid twice per month and the groomer can expect to earn an estimated $1500-$2000 twice per month. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Administer baths and perform any grooming that may be necessary to the treatment and constant cleanliness of each animal.

 

Perform required procedures for all bathing and grooming patients, such as nail trims, ear cleanings, and anal gland expressions.

 

Clean and sanitize all cages and related areas.

 

Recognize and record any unusual conditions or abnormal behavior of any grooming patient and bring these concerns to an attending veterinarian.

 

Provide each patient with water prior to and after bathing and/or grooming appointments.

 

Walks animals prior to leaving for the day.

 

Assists doctors, technicians, assistants and other personnel with any bathing needs.

 

Perform all general maintenance of bathing area; clean cages and tub

 

Be honest and dependable in performing all job duties.

 

Be compassionate and friendly to patients, clients, and all other staff members

 

Safely walks all dogs outside for bathroom breaks.

 

Follows all procedures, protocols, and standard of care set forth by EDVC.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.                                         

Language Skills                                                   

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Mathematical Skills                                           

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability                                               

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills                                                   

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Cornerstone Database software; Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Word Processing software.
