What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Custodian position at East Greenwich School Department?
The East Greenwich School Department seeks applications for three Head Custodians to work in our school buildings.
The Head Custodian keeps the school building in such a state of operating excellence that the buildings present no problems or interruptions to the educational program. The Head Custodian creates and follows a complex schedule for the performance of custodial duties. The Head Custodian is required to maintain assigned areas and equipment in a clean, orderly and secure manner. The Head Custodian does special cleaning and semi-skilled building maintenance periodically and performs routine specialized cleaning tasks during periods of student recess. The Head Custodian facilitates any and all other duties as assigned by administration necessary for school operation. The Head Custodian is given a yearly stipend starting from $1664-2392, depending on which school the position is located.
Performs all of the duties of the custodian.
Supervises school custodian (s).
Effectively utilizes district technologies appropriate to the position and assumes responsibility for attending district training needed to successfully perform designated responsibilities as directed by supervisor.
Maintains regular attendance.
Performs minor maintenance and repairs, (plumbing, electrical, painting) in building.
Immediately reports any vandalism or other damage to school property to his/her superior.
Assumes responsibility for the security of the building-all doors and windows locked and lights turned off as needed.
Maintains an inventory of supplies and equipment and places orders in advance so as not to hinder the continued performance of building custodial duties.
Complies with District Policies.
Assists in special events presentations and preparations
Corrects minor safety hazards when observed and/or immediately refers major safety hazards to School Principals.
Monitors the work of custodial staff, ensures that the building remains clean and in good repair.
Performs other related tasks as assigned or required, such as attending school crossing, if necessary.
Secures additional staffing for events or overtime opportunities as deemed appropriate per the contract.
