The East Greenwich School Department is seeking an Assistant Occupational Therapist to work 2 days per week for the rest of the school year.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Provide thorough assessment instruments pertinent to areas of therapy.
Assist the OT in developing specific performance objectives to meet individual needs of students with disabilities, as prescribed by the Evaluation Team.
Collaborates with the OT, classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by suggestions for the student's daily activities.
Maintains thorough, ongoing records of referred, screened, and eligible students, as well as individual students receiving therapy or other school-provided occupational services.
Serves as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for students with occupational needs, and provides information, support, and consultation to parents and families when appropriate.
Maintains and improves professional competence through attendance at professional development events, and by self-generated activities that meet district expectations and the requirements for re-certification.
Shares responsibility for accomplishing the goals and priorities of his or her grade, team, department, building and school district, attending all faculty and department meetings as required, and district-wide committees as needed.
Performs other duties, as assigned by the School Principal and Director of Student Services.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
Desired Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
Initial certification by National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy.
Master's Degree, from an accredited college or university, in a related field.
At least Two years of experience as an Occupational Therapist, preferably in school system or other pediatric practice setting.
Commitment to remain current in content knowledge and therapy strategies.
Demonstrated experience with students in a diverse, multi-cultural environment.
Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required.
Tools & Equipment Used
The individual should be familiar with the operation of standard office equipment including, but not limit to, personal computers, and spreadsheet and word processing software.
