Job Summary:
The East Greenwich Township Board of Education seeks an exceptional Director of Special Education and Services to lead and oversee the district's special education programs. Responsibilities:
- School Administrator: Supervise and coordinate the activities of the Child Study Team, speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, school counselors, and special education instructional aides.
- Program Administration: Plan, implement, and evaluate special education programs, including Homebound Instruction, speech, hearing, and language disorders, and McKinney Vento Act programs.
- Personnel Supervision: Provide administrative and program supervision to school counselors, teachers of special education, speech/language specialists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and Child Study Team members.
- Professional Development: Develop and maintain an ongoing in-service program for staff, foster professional growth, and encourage the use of new techniques, practices, and methods.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and community agencies, representing the school and district at meetings and conferences.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential records, including student and personnel files, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Grant Writing: Prepare grant applications to secure funding for special education programs and services.
- Program Evaluation: Assess the effectiveness of special education programs and make recommendations for improvement.
Requirements:
- Masters degree in special education or related field; School Administrator certification preferred.
- Experience in special education administration, teaching, or counseling.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with New Jersey state laws and regulations regarding special education.
