Salary : $7,500 Stipend

Reports to : Assistant Superintendent

Administrative Certification 092 or eligibility for 092 Certification preferred but not required. Elementary K-5 experience preferred.

Note : Successful candidate shall begin working as soon as possible and will be required to assist in the hiring of summer school staff and assist in the planning

and must attend and conduct summer school teacher training prior to the start of Summer School. Teacher training is scheduled for June 2025 (date to be determined).

Summer School classes will be held July 1, 2025 - August 1, 2025 (Monday - Friday).

Elementary Summer School

Responsibilities

Before Summer School

  • Plan and coordinate a student registration process including development of forms, mailings, and school and parent notifications (involving PowerSchool rostering and ParentSquare notifications)
  • Coordinate student placements within the program working in collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent, Curriculum Resource Leaders and building-level coaches.
  • Ensure the completion and organization of necessary forms (i.e., health, emergency, name tags, and alert lists to nurse, teachers and cafeteria of student allergies, meds, etc.)

Organize and give health and emergency forms and class lists to nurse

  • Create teacher folders with class list (including given and nicknames of children), emergency form, alert list, name tags for the first few days, etc.
  • Organize emergency forms, class lists for secretary
  • Develop appropriate attendance forms / systems for teachers and system for collecting accurate attendance information (use of PowerSchool systems)
  • Organize summary assessment forms into summer school classes.
  • Establish safety expectations - supervision of students, bathroom protocol, etc.
  • Create a master schedule for the summer school program.
  • Ensure there are proper instructional materials in each classroom based on the needs of students
  • Schedule para and teacher duties for student arrival, dismissal, and breakfast
  • Develop summer school teacher training and share appropriate information with staff
  • Coordinate and conduct parent information session / information
  • Work with the Assistant Superintendent to make instructional supply purchases.
  • During Summer School

  • Be on site as students arrive and remain on site until all summer school students are picked up by their caregiver
  • Supervise staff - including maintaining a presence in the classrooms and holding high standards in regards to instructional expectations.
  • Assist staff with managing student behaviors and in celebrating students' successes.
  • Collect time sheets for summer school staff and send in to BOE on time as directed. (suggestion : give out in the morning of the day they are due, when staff sign in, and collect at the end of the day)
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records - including attendance, discipline and academics.
  • Maintain ongoing parent communication; work to further build these home-school connections
  • Prepare a summary report / presentation to be delivered to the Assistant Superintendent at the end of the program (This should include data, outcomes and suggestions for future programming for both students and staff.) This presentation should also be shared with the summer school staff.
  • Continue to monitor and promote the importance of consistent student and staff attendance throughout the summer school program.
  • After Summer School

  • Complete and submit summary report to the Assistant Superintendent office
  • Return summary assessment forms to students' schools.
  • Have summer school staff complete a summative survey regarding the strengths and future needs of the program.
