What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Records Associate position at East Hill Medical Center?
· Respond within set timeframe to requests for transfer of records that align with state and federal regulations.
· Sort documents received by fax and mail, then index them consistently according to set standards in electronic medical records.
· Coordinate with companies to schedule times for bulk file reviews.
· Communicate with referring agencies, including but not limited to long-term care homes, specialists’ offices and other practices regarding contact information or document requests.
· Respond to legal requests for information as appropriate or provide requests to clinical director.
· Scan clinical and financial patient documents into the electronic medical records systems.
· Maintain paper records in accordance with state and federal regulations, as well as company policies.
· Ensuring that medical records are organized, accurate, and complete.
· Ensure compliance with HIPPA and privacy laws regarding patient documents.
· Prepare document for signatures from physicians and Chief Medical Officer.
· Receive and route insurance documents to appropriate departments.
· Physically pick-up documents from practices and scan them or route to appropriate parties.
· Review paper medical records, sort, and scan into EMR and destroy properly, track status of shredded files.
· Digitize paper records by organizing and scanning into EMR.
· Consult other data sources regarding the status of patients to ensure electronic medical records are accurate and up to date.
· Helping with departmental audits and investigations.
· Participate in the emergency management preparedness task force.
· Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Highschool Diploma
One year's experience working in a clinical setting preferred.
One year's experience working in a Medical Records preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.50 per hour
