What are the responsibilities and job description for the Receptionist/Medical Assistant position at East Hill Medical Center?
East Hill Medical Center is looking for a Receptionist/Medical Assistant to join our growing organization. This position is primarily located in our East Hill Family and Pediatric Medicine department at 13 North Fulton Street, Auburn, NY, but the candidate should be comfortable floating to all our medical offices (Adult Medicine and Inner Wellness). Our receptionist/medical assistant will assist providers and nurses with the scheduling and flow of patients and patient’s family in the clinical areas. The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; evening hours may be needed.
Responsibilities:
- Greet patients in a friendly and welcoming manner both in person and on the phone.
- Promptly and professionally answers all incoming, multi-line, telephone calls ensuring to introduce yourself and the practice. Screen and direct calls appropriately.
- Monitor provider’s schedules to ensure it is efficiently booked.
- Schedules and reschedules patient appointments over the telephone, in-person and follow-up visits at the end of the initial patient appointment.
- Verifying insurance prior to their appointment.
- Reminding patients to arrive early if documentation needs to be completed prior to their appointment.
- Assist patients with the kiosk, as needed.
- Initiate video conferencing with interpreters as needed.
- Capture and record reportable demographic information.
- Engage patients in utilizing the patient portal.
- Respond to all patient questions, concerns, and complaints in a calm, non-confrontational, supportive manner and is able to de-escalate situations as needed.
- Perform required patient screening prior to visits, both on the phone and in person.
- Remind patients to bring a list and/or their current medication with them to their appointment.
- Responsible for supporting and monitoring patient flow in the front and back offices.
- Responsible for performing various aspects of patient visit.
- Reviews health record with the patient.
- Obtains vital signs and patient data.
- Initiates the follow-up of specialty care referrals and services per policy.
- Assists patients with the completion of medical forms.
- Responsible for performing important medical tests and procedures on patients, as directed by practitioner within the MA scope.
- Performs laboratory specimen collection, preparation and labeling.
- Performs ECG’s.
- Responsible for obtaining medical record releases, and ensuring the processing of medical record requests.
- Assists with scanning relevant documents into the electronic health record system.
- Performs documentation in the patient’s electronic health record.
- Responsible for preparing and stocking exam rooms.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Floats between all offices as needed and directed by the Practice Manager or designee.
- Provide excellent patient service.
No weekends, 9 paid holidays and 2 floating holidays.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
