Position: Intern Assistant Principal
Reports to: Site Principal
Qualifications:
- Hold valid Oklahoma Teacher Certification.
- Hold or be in the process of completing Oklahoma Principal Certification.
- Previous experience as a classroom teacher.
- Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Position Goal: To assist in the supervision of the functions and activities of staff. To also assist the building staff and advise the Site Principal in planning, coordinating, directing, staffing and evaluating the instructional and professional development programs. Establish and maintain an effective learning climate.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Aid in establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students, staff, families and the community.
- Stay current on educational changes and developments through reading professional literature and attending professional meetings.
- Facilitate implementation of the code of student conduct in accordance with school and system policy to ensure a safe and orderly learning environment.
- Foster the planning and implementation of a systematic method of supervising the instructional program through the use of learning walks, observations, documentations and follow-up conferences.
- Assist in screening and interviewing prospective staff members to recommend to the Site Principal.
- Incorporate technology into management into instructional processes.
- Resolve issues among staff, students and parents which arise in work areas covered by this job description.
- Assist in the planning of staff activities and communication.
- Assist in the implementation of professional development training for all staff members.
- Assume responsibility for the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations by the school’s staff and students.
- Supervise the educational program by assisting in the development, revision and evaluation of the curriculum.
- Provide the direct and indirect supervision of all students assigned to the campus.
- Participate in the screening, classroom placement and transition of students from other grade levels/schools as needed.
- Assist in providing communications to students and families assigned to the campus.
- Assist in establishing guides for proper student conduct and maintain student discipline, according to the due process to the right of students.
- Participate in formal and informal conferences with parents and other members of the public.
- Supervise the maintenance of all required building records and reports.
- Participate in the planning, coordinating and evaluating the present instructional program; develop and implement new programs.
- Promote and implement Jenks Public Schools’ goals and strategic objectives.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Employment Terms: Teacher Contract (176 days) plus Extra Duty. Salary and work year to be established by the Board through negotiations with Jenks Classroom Teacher Association. Benefits as established by Board policy.
FLSA Qualification: Exempt
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education's policy on Staff Evaluation (2.20/certified).
